Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has appointed Barrister Shameem Haider Patwary as the secretary general of the party, replacing Mujibul Haque Chunnu, amid a new wave of turmoil inside the party.
The development was confirmed through a press release issued by the press secretary of Jatiya Party chairman, Khandakar Delwer Jalali. The chairman’s office also issued an official press statement.
In the statement, the party said its chairman sacked Mujibul Haque Chunnu as secretary general and appointed Shameem Haider Patwari in his place.
According to bdnews24.com, GM Quader appointed Chunnu as secretary general in September 2022, after expelling Mashiur Rahman Ranga from the party.
According to Article 20(a) of the Jatiya Party constitution, the chairman has the authority to relieve or expel any member from the party or a party position without issuing a show-cause notice.
