Leaders of Islami Chhatra Shibir under the banner of Chittagong University Central Students' Union (CUCSU) allegedly assaulted a teacher of the Department of Law at Chittagong University (CU) on Saturday. The teacher, Hasan Mohammad Roman, an assistant professor of the department, was dragged to the proctor's office by the student leaders, who accused him of being pro-Awami League.
According to witnesses and a video that went viral on social media, the incident occurred around 12:00 pm, while the admission test for first-year undergraduate programmes was underway at the Faculty of Law. The teacher was on duty as an invigilator at the time.
They gathered outside the dean's office, grabbed the teacher, and assaulted him. A video footage circulating on social media shows Roman being dragged onto a rickshaw, which then headed towards the proctor's office.
