ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, the BNP MP from Chandpur-1 and a former state minister for education, has been invited to join the cabinet of the incoming government led by Tarique Rahman.

Milon’s personal aide, MA Foyez, confirmed the development on Tuesday.

“The cabinet secretary called a short while ago. [Milon] was attending the swearing-in ceremony, so I received the call,” he said.

“He has been selected as a member of the cabinet.”

With Tarique set to form the new government, attention has turned to the composition of his cabinet. Amid intense speculation, sources say the list of ministers has nearly been finalised, with the cabinet expected to comprise around 40 members.

Preparations for the swearing-in are under way. Thirty-seven vehicles have been readied from the government transport pool, and a similar number of official residences are being prepared for the incoming ministers.
