Tarique, Zaima included in voter list

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his daughter Zaima Rahman have been included in the national voter list, party sources said on Sunday.

The information was confirmed by BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan, who said Tarique Rahman’s name was added to the voter roll following the due process of the Election Commission (EC).

The EC’s public relations wing also confirmed the development on Sunday (December 28), according to local media reports.

Earlier, on December 27, Tarique Rahman visited the Election Commission office in Agargaon, where he completed the necessary formalities for voter registration and obtaining a national identity card (NID). BNP had previously announced that Rahman would be registered as a voter on that day, and the Election Commission had made the required preparations in advance.

In a post on Saturday afternoon, the BNP Media Cell said that after providing fingerprints, iris scans and other biometric data, the Director General of the National Identity Registration Wing, SM Humayun Kabir, stated that it would take up to 24 hours for Tarique Rahman’s NID to be issued.
