Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Sunday that there will definitely be a change in the government this time.

"Be certain (people) that change is coming and people will achieve their victory, InshaAllah," he said as the chief gust at a discussion marking the 54th birth anniversary of party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's younger son Arafat Rahman Koko at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in the capital.

Bangladesh Sports Development Council organised the discussion which was presided over by convener of Dhaka city south unit of BNP Abdus Salam.

"Awami League knows it very well that if the caretaker government system returns then they will not get even 10 parliament seats in the upcoming elections," he asserted.

Fakhrul alleged that the government has staged a drama by conducting an anti-militancy drive at Kulaura in Moulvibazar district to divert people's attention from the ongoing movement and to scare foreigners of bugbears.

He said that the government will now try to divert people's attention in the name of militancy.

He termed Koko as an unfortunate man as he was victimised due to only for political reason as he was the younger son of Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia.

Fakhrul further said that due to political reason Koko was victimised.

He alleged that no effective steps were taken by the government to prevent dengue despite high alert issued by the World Health Organisation.

"They (government) have no responsibility for the people. So, a terrible situation has been created in the country," he maintained.

"The fascist government has only work to do that is stealing and looting. But the people of the country have risen for the movement to restore democracy in the country," he mentioned.
