Syed Shamim Ahmed, the Organizing Secretary of Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League, and Abdur Rahman Jamil, the Publicity and Publication Secretary have been detained by immigration police at Sylhet Osmani International Airport.
They were detained at around 8:45 PM on Monday while trying to flee the country.
Sylhet airport sources said that the two Awami League leaders came to the airport to depart for Saudi Arabia.
The Sylhet Metropolitan Police was informed about their detention by the airport authorities later.
