VP candidate Julius Caesar issued show-cause notice

Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) vice-president (VP) candidate and former Chhatra League leader Julius Caesar Talukder has been issued a show-cause notice for failing to shut down a Facebook page titled "Dhaka University Shikkharthi Sangsad".

The notice, signed by Professor Dr. Golam Rabbani, convener of the DUCSU Election Code of Conduct Taskforce, stated that despite repeated complaints of smear campaigns and personal defamation against candidates, Caesar did not close the page, of which he is an administrator.

The notice instructed him to personally appear at an emergency meeting on Friday at the north wing conference room on the third floor of the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.

From the beginning of the DUCSU election process, social media has been rife with allegations. Rival panels have accused one another of spreading propaganda and defamation. To address the issue, the Election Commission decided to temporarily shut down several university-related FB groups and pages.

In line with the decision, Caesar was previously requested to close the said FB page, but he ignored the instruction. As a result, the show-cause notice was issued against him.
