Zaima Rahman, the daughter of BNP leader Tarique Rahman, has completed the formalities to be registered as a voter ahead of the upcoming general election.
She provided fingerprints, iris scans and other biometric information at the Election Training Institute (ETI) building in Agargaon on Saturday.
Zaima entered the building around 12:26pm, accompanied by her mother Zubaida Rahman, reports bdnews24.com.
After submitting the voter registration application along with biometric data, their motorcade left the Election Commission complex around 12:44pm.
Tarique later arrived at the Election Commission building around 1:00pm to complete his own voter registration formalities.
Bangladesh first compiled a photo-based voter list in 2007–08, when Tarique was in prison. After his release in 2008, he travelled to London for medical treatment and did not return to Bangladesh for many years, during which time he did not receive a national identity card.
Following the political changes after the July 2024 Uprising, his wife, Zubaida, returned to Bangladesh and registered as a voter.
