President summons JS budget session on June 2

President M Abdul Hamid has issued an order summoning the 13th session (budget session) of the Eleventh Jatiya Sangsad (JS) on June 2 next.

“The budget session of the ongoing 13th session of the Eleventh Jatiya Sangsad will be held at 5 pm on June 2 at the Parliament Complex in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka,’ said an official statement this afternoon, reports BSS.

The president, also the head of the state, convened the session exercising the power bestowed upon him as per Article 72 (1) of the Constitution, it said.

The upcoming budget session is scheduled to be held in a limited scale due to pandemic COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak like the previous one, the statement added.

In the last session concluded on March 4 with commencing only three working days and placing some five bills.

Before the commencement of the House proceedings on the day, the Parliamentary Business Advisory Committee is likely to hold a meeting, with JS speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, to fix the duration and agendas of the session.
