President to deliver speech outlining ‘interim govt framework’

President Mohammad Shahabuddin is set to address the nation Monday night where he will give a rough idea about the framework for an interim government following the overthrow of the Sheikh Hasina administration in a popular uprising.

This announcement comes after a meeting with representatives from various political parties and the Anti-discrimination Student Movement at Bangabhaban on Monday night.

After the meeting, Maulana Fazlul Karim, a leader of the Islami Shashontantra Andolan, said: "The president will deliver a speech to the nation shortly.”

 “He will announce the outline of the interim government."

"The meeting included representatives from political parties and student leaders. There was an open discussion about our goals and how to form a consensus government," he added.

He also urged the public to maintain peace and avoid damage to state property and police stations.
