Quota protest: Private university students block Natunbazar, Kuril Bishwa Road

Several hundred students from various private universities have blocked the roads in the Natunbazar and Kuril Bishwa Road areas of the capital, demanding quota reform.

Traffic congestion occurred as the protestors began blocking the roads in front of the Aftabnagar area and Natunbazar crossing on Monday noon, according to the DMP traffic control room.

Students from BRAC and East West University blocked the roads at Aftabnagar at around 2 pm, said Gulshan Traffic Division.

At around 4 PM, students from UIU and several other universities took to the streets at Natunbazar, halting traffic. The protesters at Natunbazar cleared the road around 4:45 PM.

Meanwhile, protesting students from other private universities gathered at the Kuril Bishwa Road area demanding reform in the quota system in first and second-class government jobs, the traffic division said.
