A group of people are staging a protest outside the headquarters of the capital development authority Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) to demand the revision of the Detailed Action Plan (DAP) and building construction regulations.

The protest on Tuesday was conducted under the banner of the Dhaka City Land Owners Association, according to bdnews24.com

The protesters blocked the road in front of the main gates of the RAJUK offices at 10am. They chanted slogans protesting “arbitrariness” and “corruption” at RAJUK and demanding changes to the DAP and building construction regulations.

Saidur Rahman, one of the protesters, said: “The final DAP has reduced the height of buildings in Dhaka city. This was done by a syndicate. We do not accept that DAP. There is a 10-storey building next to my house, but we are only granted permission for a two-storey building. This cannot happen.”

Another protester said, “The 2022 DAP should be cancelled and the 2008 DAP should be reinstated. There are some disparities between the new DAP and the previous DAP. There are extreme disparities, especially in the unplanned areas of the city. We want this inequality to be eliminated.”
