The quota protesters have temporarily suspended their movement and left the Dhaka University area without announcing any subsequent programmes.
Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the quota reform movement, announced the suspension of the movement for the day from the VC Chattar of Dhaka University on Tuesday.
He said, "We are suspending today's movement. We will discuss and decide on the next course of action, which will be communicated to you later."
On the spot, it was observed that students were expressing their frustrations towards the police stationed at the VC Chattar. At one point, they even asked the police to shoot them directly instead of beating them with batons. To avoid further clashes, the coordinators of the movement held a press briefing and announced the suspension of today's programme.
