

The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has requested the Supreme Court (SC) to postpone the oath-taking ceremony for its newly appointed members, originally scheduled for Thursday (January 9).
In a letter sent to the Registrar General's Office of the SC on Wednesday, the PSC cited the ongoing conduct of important examinations as the reason for the requested postponement, BSS reported citing an official.
The interim government had appointed six new members to the PSC on January 2. The appointees are Prof Dr Shahnaz Sarkar, Md Munir Hossain, Brig Gen (Retd) Dr AF Jaglul Ahmed, Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, Sabbir Ahmed Chowdhury, and Prof Dr Syeda Shahina Subhan.
Prior to this, the government had appointed eight members to the PSC in two phases. With the addition of these six members, the total number of PSC members has now risen to 14.
