PSC unveils roadmap to clear BCS exam backlog

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has prepared a roadmap to resolve the backlog concerning the 44th to 48th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) exams.

The commission said that the final results of the 44th, 45th and 48th BCS exams will be published this year. Specifically, the final result of the 44th BCS will be announced on Jun 30, the 48th special BCS on Sept 22, and the 45th BCS on Dec 10, bdnews24.com reports.

Meanwhile, the PSC pledged to publish the 45th BCS written test results on Jun 19, the 47th BCS preliminary results on Sept 28 and the 46th BCS written test results by Dec 18.

The roadmap was officially announced on Tuesday, PSC spokesperson SM Matiur Rahman confirmed to bdnews24.com.

The commission has taken a "landmark initiative" by drafting a roadmap for the year 2025 in an effort to eliminate delays and streamline the exam process, according to a statement signed by him.

To avoid scheduling conflicts, the PSC said that candidates who must sit for both the 45th BCS viva voce and either the 46th or 47th BCS written or preliminary exams will have their oral tests arranged at least one month before or after the other exams.

Due to a shortage of doctors at state-run hospitals, the PSC is prioritising the 48th special BCS. The statement mentioned that following the publication of the gazette on May 27, the official notice was promptly made on May 29.

The written MCQ (multiple-choice questions) test for the 48th special BCS will take place on Jul 18, and the results will be published on Jul 21. The final results will be out on Sept 22.

The 47th BCS preliminary test is scheduled for Sept 19 and the written test for Nov 27.

The commission mentioned that typically, the preliminary exam is held two months after the BCS circular and the written exam is held two months after the preliminary results are released.

While the commission aims to stick to these dates, it acknowledged that changes might occur due to unavoidable circumstances.

The PSC also announced that the circular for the 49th BCS will be issued on Nov 1. Applications will be accepted from that day until Nov 30.
