The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 266 people in connection with the nationwide violence surrounding the quota protest movement.

Sixty-three people were arrested in Dhaka for recent incidents of sabotage, violence, and arson, the law enforcers said on Friday. Another 203 were arrested by RAB units in different districts, as per bdnews24.com reports.

On Thursday, RAB announced the arrests of 228 people in connection with the violence.

RAB said in a previous statement that criminals attempted to use children and youths while they attempted to block roads and wreak havoc through violence and vandalism. When law enforcers arrived at the scene, they were blocked and obstacles were put in their way.

RAB says that, in the interest of public safety, to protect life and property, and to disperse criminals, RAB helicopters used gas and sound grenades but did not use firearms.
