Students demanding quota reforms have announced a complete shutdown for Thursday across the country, protesting against killings and attacks by police, BGB, RAB and SWAT.

Everything except hospitals and emergency services would be closed during the shutdown, said Asif Mahmud, one of the coordinators of the Boishommobirodhi Chhatro Andolon’, an umbrella organisation for student protestors, announced this on Facebook at 8pm on Wednesday.

He called on all students of schools, colleges, universities and madrasas to make the programme a success.

Mahmud wrote: I would like to tell our guardians that we are your children. Please stand by us, protect us. This movement is not for only students, but also for all irrespective of any part or opinion.”
