A case was filed against several “unidentified” students on charges of vandalising police vehicles, assaulting policemen, and engaging in altercations with the law enforcers during the ongoing quota reform protests.
Khalilur Rahman, a driver from the transport department of Rajarbagh Police Lines lodged the case with the Shahbagh police station on Friday.
According to the case statement, the quota protesters on July 11 broke through the police barricade at the Shahbagh intersection and clashed with the law enforcers on duty, resulting in injuries to several police officers.
University students across the country have been protesting against the quota system in government jobs since earlier this month, following a High Court order on June 30 to reinstate quotas for freedom fighters.
