RAB arrests three with Phensedyl in Ctg

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three alleged drug peddlers along with 987 bottles of Phensedyl at Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong on Thursday.

Law enforcers also a covered van from the spot on Dhaka-Chittagong highway nearby Bhatiari officers' residential area in the upazila.

The arrestees are - Md Jamal, 25, son of late Mir Ayub, Md Omar Faruk, 34, son of Abdul Karim, and Md Azad, 23, son of Shamsur Rahman, all hailing from Sarkarpara of Bhujpur thana in Chittagong, said a press statement.

A team of RAB-7 led by Lt Commander Ashiqur Rahman set up a check post in the area and challenged the Chittagong-bound covered van following a secret information.

According to UNB, when RAB men signaled it to stop, the driver of the covered van drove away speedily with the detainees on board.

However, the elite force later seized the van chasing it immediately and arrested the trio and recovered 987 bottles of Phensedyl worth Tk 7,89,600 from their possession, said the RAB official.
