The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Wednesday forecasted rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty wind in some districts across the country for the next 120 hours, commencing from 9:00 am.

"Rain or thundershowers with lightning and temporary gusty winds are likely in a few places over the Sylhet division and in one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Dhaka divisions, as well as the Cumilla and Noakhali regions," said Meteorologist Afruza Sultana.

The Met Office said a trough of low lies over West Bengal to North Bay across the southwestern part of Bangladesh, reports BSS.

Day and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country, the BMD predicted.

Meanwhile, a mild heat wave is sweeping across the Rajshahi, Pabna, Jashore and Chuadanga districts and may expand further.

The temperature may fall, according to the Met Office's outlook for the next five days.

The country's maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 37.2 degrees Celsius at Jashore in the Khulna division, and the minimum temperature today was recorded 22.4 degrees Celsius at Bandarban in the Chattogram division.

The sun sets today at 6:24 pm and rises at 5:30 am tomorrow in the capital.
