Rain likely in Dhaka, seven other divisions

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted rain in some places of eight divisions, including Dhaka, of the country in the next 24 hours, commencing at 9:00 am on Thursday.

“Rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions, said a Met Office bulletin.

During this period, day and night temperatures may fall slightly over the country, reports UNB citing the bulletin.

Besides, a mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Sirajganj, Maulvibazar, Rangamati, Feni, Chattogram and Patuakhali, and it may abate in some places, reads it.

Meanwhile, the well-marked low over Southwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay moved northwards, weakened into a low-pressure area, and now lies over Westcentral Bay and the adjoining area on Thursday morning.

 It is likely to move north-northeastwards and weaken gradually during the next 24 hours. A trough of low lies over West Bengal and the adjoining area.
