Rain likely in parts of Bangladesh in next two days

Heat wave to spread with rising trend of temp until Saturday

Rain or thundershower accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur in different regions of the country on Thursday and Friday, according to an official at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Apart from this, a mild heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the regions of Gopalganj, Faridpur, as well as Pabna and it, may continue & spread until Saturday, the official said.

Talking to The Financial Express, Abdul Mannan, a BMD meteorologist, said rain/thundershower accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Sylhet, Mymensingh, and Chattogram divisions and the district of Kishoregonj with hails at isolated places.

The highest temperature was recorded 38.8 degrees Celsius at Jashore on Wednesday while the lowest temperature was 18.8 degrees Celsius at Sayedpur, Tetulia and Dimla on Thursday, he added.

The BMD in its weather forecast this morning said weather may remain mainly dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.

In its 24-hour forecast, the Met Office said day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

In its outlook for the next 72 hours, it said temperature may rise further.

Westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area, it said, adding that one of its associated trough extends up to North Bay.

The sun sets at 6:15 pm on Thursday and rises at 5:50 am on Friday in Dhaka.
