Rains likely across the country in 24 hours

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecast rain or thundershowers across the country in 24 hours commencing 9 am on Friday.

“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Khulna & Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions,” said a met office bulletin.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.

A trough of low lies over West Bengal to Northwest Bay across the southwestern part of Bangladesh, reports UNB.

Southwest monsoon has advanced up to Chattogram, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions including the eastern part of the Dhaka division.

Conditions are favourable for further advance of the Southwest monsoon, according to the met office. 

The country’s highest temperature was recorded in Jashore at 36 degrees Celsius over the past 24 hours till 6 am Friday while the lowest temperature was in Nilphamari’s Sayedpur at 22 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

In the meantime, the highest 122mm rainfall was recorded in Sylhet’’s Sreemangal.
