Chairman of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) Md Anisur Rahman Miah has sought unconditional apology to the High Court (HC) for not complying with an order of the court to submit documents over a plot dispute.
In a written statement, the Rajuk Chairman said that his mistake was unintentional and he promised that he will be more cautious and vigilant in discharging his duties and responsibilities in future.
He tendered his apology to the High Court bench of Justice Mahmudul Hoque and Justice Md Mahmud Hassan Talukder on Thursday.
Lawyer Imam Hasan appeared in the court hearing on behalf of the Rajuk Chairman, while Golam Rasul appeared for the contempt petitioner and Deputy Attorney General KM Masud Rumi represented the state.
Earlier on Tuesday last, the same High Court bench summoned Rajuk Chairman for not implementing its earlier directive. The Rajuk Chairman was asked to appear before the court on May 18 to explain his position over the issue.
Lawyers concerned said Khalid Mahmud, a resident of Nikunja area of the capital, filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking remedy over a plot related crisis.
Following the writ petition the High Court asked the Rajuk Chairman to submit the relevant documents regarding the plot to the court. However, the Rajuk Chairman didn’t submit the documents in due time.
In this circumstance, Khalid Mahmud filed a contempt of court petition against the Rajuk Chairman. Upon hearing the petition the High Court summoned the Rajuk Chairman.
It also issued a rule asking the Rajuk Chairman to explain as to why a contempt of court proceeding should not be initiated against him for repeated disobedience of the court order.
