The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) plans to establish a park in Uttara of the capital in the name of July martyr Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdho.

The proposed park will be set up behind 'Mugdho Mancha' in Uttara sector by evicting a slum.

RAJUK chairman Md Reazul Islam disclosed the plan while inspecting urban facilities in Uttara under the RAJUK jurisdiction on Friday, according to a statement.

'Mugdho Mancha' would be made more beautiful and meaningful in order to preserve the memory of the July Movement, he said.

The chairman led the inspection as part of RAJUK's ongoing efforts to develop Dhaka into a more liveable city.

During the visit, the RAJUK chairman assessed the condition of the RAJUK-owned plots in Uttara and instructed officials to reclaim any plots occupied illegally.

He also visited several lakes and parks in Uttara residential area, directing the authorities to focus on cleanliness and ensure the proper management of park seating areas to provide a welcoming environment for visitors.

As part of the inspection, he visited multiple buildings under construction, and confirmed that the construction work was being carried out in accordance with the RAJUK-approved designs.

He expressed dissatisfaction over the use of walkways, roads and sidewalks for storing materials in front of some buildings under construction.

He ordered their immediate removal and instructed officials to take appropriate disciplinary action as per regulations.
