NCTB chairman denies Rakhhal Raha's link to 'Tk 4 billion paper trade'

Professor AKM Riazul Hasan, Chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB), has said that Rakhhal Raha has no involvement in the procurement of paper for printing textbooks.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Hasan dismissed the allegations of a Tk 4 billion (Tk 400 crore) commission trade in NCTB's textbook paper business as baseless propaganda.

"The total cost of paper procurement for textbooks amounts to only Tk 1 billion (Tk 100 crore). It is incomprehensible how a Tk 4 billion trade could have taken place," he said.

He criticised a recent media report that accused NCTB of irregularities, calling it baseless and a deliberate attempt at spreading misinformation.

The press briefing took place at the NCTB office in Motijheel, Dhaka.
