Rangpur City polls a test for EC:Ershad

Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Thursday said the election to Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) is a test for the Election Commission.

The JP chief came up with the remark after casting his vote at the Senpara Primary School polling centre at around 9 am.

He said, "I hope the poll will be held in fair and peacefully and Jatiya Party candidate will win the election defeating competitors with a difference of lakhs of votes."

Jatiya Party's victorious journey will begin through wining in the RCC polls, he added.

Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa is competing for the mayor's chair from the Jatiya Party.

The balloting in 193 polling stations started at 8 am and will continue till 4 pm without any break.

Seven candidates are vying for the mayoral post, while 211 candidates for ward councillors and 65 women candidates for reserved councilors.
