A Dhaka court has placed Regent Group Chairman Md Shahed’s main associate Tarikul Islam alias Tarek Shibli on five-day remand in a fraud case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan passed the order on Friday as police produced Shibli before the court and pleaded to place him on seven-day remand, reports BSS.

Earlier, Shibli was arrested from the capital’s Nakhalpara area on the night of July 8.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on July 6 raided two hospitals of Regent Group in Uttara and Mirpur and arrested the eight for issuing fake corona test results and certificates by using forged serial number and signatures of concerned authorities, realising illegal fees from the patients, running hospital business without having any proper approval, among other charges.

On July 7, RAB filed the case against 17 including Regent Group chairman Md Shahed with Uttara West Police Station.
