Resumption in Chattogram gas supply to get delayed

The restoration of gas supply in Chattogram city, which has been suspended due to repair work of a key gas pipe line for the third straight day today, will be delayed further.

Khaiz Ahmed Mazumdar, managing director of Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited (KGDCL), said they are yet to complete the repair work, meaning that they cannot restore the supply this afternoon as schedule.

Earlier yesterday, the authorities had said they could resume the gas supply by the afternoon of today.

The suspension in the city gas supply started in the wake of a key gas pipeline having been damaged by an excavator of the city corporation during a digging work in a canal beside Akmal Ali Road on Saturday.

The gas pipeline is connected with to Sadarghat, Patenga, Halishahar, Agrabad Fakir Hat, Agrabad, New Market, port and export procession zone areas.
