Police recovered the body of Mukta Akhter, 22, wife of Kawser Ahmed. Hailing from Muradnagar of Cumilla, the couple had been living at a house of Dhankunda.

Kawser went into hiding after the incident.

Locals spotted the throat-slit body of Mukta lying on the bed through the window of their house in the morning and informed police.

Later, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy, said officer-in-charge of Siddhirganj Police Station Shahin Shah Parvez.

He said Mukta might have been killed sometime on Thursday night over family feud.

The residential medical officer at the hospital said the victim was pregnant, reports UNB.

Victim's mother Josna Begum who along with her husband Joynal Abedin rushed in from Cumilla on information said Mukta was married off to Kawser three years back. "Since their marriage, he used to torture my daughter. They got separate one and a half years back, but Kawser took back my daughter two months ago," she said.
