A total of 502 people were killed and 964 others injured in September in 504 road accidents, according to a BJKS (Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samiti) press release on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, 50 accidents on the railways resulted in 46 deaths and three injuries. Besides, 17 people died, 15 were injured, and three went missing in 13 accidents on the waterways.
Taking all those, a total of 567 accidents on the roads, railways and waterways resulted in 565 deaths and 982 injuries.
During this period, 199 people died and 188 were injured in 191 motorcycle accidents, accounting for 37.89 per cent of the total accidents, 39.64 per cent of the deaths, and 19.50 per cent of the injuries.
