A collision involving a bus, a truck and a motorcycle in Patiya upazila of Chattogram district has resulted in the loss of two lives.
The incident occurred on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway in the upazila's Kamal Munshi Haat area on Tuesday night, according to Inspector Bikash Sarker of Patiya Crossing police outpost.
The victims have been identified as 35-year-old Azizur Rahman, the motorcyclist, and 33-year-old Syed Alam, the truck driver's aide, reports bdnews24.com in its Facebook post.
Alam and the truck driver made a brief stop at a roadside restaurant, said Bikash. As they were heading back onto the highway, he motioned for an approaching motorcyle to stop.
However, a Chattogram-bound bus of SR Paribahan collided with the truck and the motorcycle behind it at a high speed.
Police have impounded the bus, but the driver managed to flee, according to Bikash. Authorities are preparing a case on the incident.
