Road crashes leave four dead in Sirajganj, Naogaon

At least four people were killed and 23 others injured in two separate road accidents in Sirajganj and Naogaon districts on Friday morning.

In Sirajganj, two people were killed and 23 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Bogra highway in Bhuiyanganti Bazar area in Raiganj upazila around 10:30am.

The deceased were identified as Jahir Uddin, 35, son of Nazim Uddin, and Abu Bakar Siddiq, 34, son of Abbas Ali, resident of Saidpur village in Thakurgaon district, reports UNB.

Police said a Dhaka-bound 'Mirpur Paribahan' bus from Thakurgaon fell into the ditch after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving 25 people injured.

Later, the injured were rushed to Raiganj Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared the duo dead.

In Naogaon, two mango traders were killed when a truck hit a van at Godown Para in Sapahar upazila headquarters around 7:00 am.

The deceased were identified as Abdus Salam, 24, son of Majed Ali of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district and Hiron Bepari, 30, son of Siddique Bepari of Bhola district.

The accident occurred when the Chapainawabganj-bound paddy-laden truck hit a mango-laden van, leaving two traders dead on the spot, police said.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy.
