Ruma’s road link with Bandarban remains snapped for 12 days

Road communication between Ruma upazila and Bandarban district headquarters remained suspended for 12 days as different portion of the road was damaged due to landslide and torrential rain.

Numerous cracks and holes have been developed on Bandarban-Ruma road in Noy Maile, Baro Mile, Doulianpara, Koikhangjhiri areas due to the heavy rain, said Uhlamong Marma, chairman of the upazila.

Besides, different portion of the road caved in after heavy downpour, creating panic among local people, reports UNB.

The people of the upazila are using boats for going to their destinations.

Mohammad Shafique, sub-assistant engineer of Roads and Highways Department, said the authorities concerned are thinking of making an alternative road in the area for resuming the road link.
