Sacked BCL leader ‘confesses' to have raped six women

Expelled Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader of Shariatpur Arif Hawladar has confessed that he raped six women, took video clips of the nefarious acts and released those on the internet.

Arif gave the confessional statement before a court Shariatpur on Wednesday.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sheikh Mujahidul Islam recorded his statement when police produced him before the court, said Court Police Inspector Jamal Uddin.

After recording the statement, the court sent the sacked BCL leader to jail, he said.

Earlier on Tuesday, police in a drive arrested Arif from Saikha Bridge area of Gosairhat upazila.

Arif, general secretary of Narayanpur union unit BCL in Bhedarganj upazila, allegedly raped the six women, including housewives and college girls, on several occasions and captured those in his mobile phone.

Later, the video clips were posted on Facebook from the ID of Rajib Matabbar, son of Aminul Haque Matabbar of Ikarkandi village in Bhedarganj upazila. Later, those went viral on social media and handsets.

After the matter came to light, BCL expelled Arif from the organisation on November 10 last.

UNB says, one of the victims filed a case with Bhedarganj Police Station on November 11.

According the case statement, Arif raped the housewife on March 1 last and took video footage of that.

Later, he violated the housewife on several more occasions threatening to release the scenes on the internet.

Arif also raped five more women on the same way.
