Salman, Anisul, Inu, Menon, Mamun remanded again

Salman F Rahman, the private industry and investment advisor to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former law minister Anisul Huq, JaSaD President and former minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Bangladesh Workers Party President and former minister Rashed Khan Menon and former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun have been remanded for questioning in police custody in two murder cases filed at Jatrabari Police Station over incidents during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement protests.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman made the decision after a hearing on Wednesday morning.

Omar Faruq Faruqi, public prosecutor to the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s court, confirmed the information to bdnews24.com.

The investigating officers in the two cases petitioned for the suspects to be remanded after bringing them to the court on Monday. Faruqi, representing the state, moved for the remand petition while the defence lawyer opposed it. The judge announced the decision after hearing from both sides.

Salman, Anisul, Inu, Menon, and Mamun were remanded for five days in the murder case of a man named Jishan. Anisul, Menon, Inu, and Mamun were also remanded for another five days in the murder case of a man named Mehedi Hasan.
