Sarjis Alam holds grand showdown on return to hometown

Sarjis Alam, the newly appointed chief organiser (North) of the National Citizen Party (NCP), staged a grand return to his hometown of Atwari in Panchagarh.

He landed at Syedpur Airport, flying from Dhaka, around 11:30 am, where a group of supporters awaited him. After speaking with the media, he set off for Panchagarh.

The NCP leader traveled half of the remaining 100 kilometers to his hometown from Syedpur in a convoy of over 100 vehicles.

A total of Tk 5,000 had been paid as a toll for a 135-vehicle convoy's passage over the Fourth Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge in Debiganj, an upazila of Panchagarh, according to the toll collector.
