Sarjis Alam, a prominent leader of the Anti Discrimination Students Movement (ADSM), has gotten married.

Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, an adviser to the interim government, congratulated Alam on his marriage in a Facebook post.

"Brother, congratulations on embarking on this new journey. May your married life be filled with happiness," he wrote, sharing a photo of Alam dressed as a bridegroom.

Hasnat Abdullah, another leader of the ADSM, also extended his wishes on social media.

"Congratulations, my friend Sarjis! I pray that your life together with your partner is full of love and beautiful moments," he wrote, posting the same photo.

The ADSM played a pivotal role in toppling the Awami League government last year. Several Dhaka University (DU) students, including Nahid Islam, Asif, Sarjis and Hasnat, emerged as key figures during the protests.

Following the Awami League's fall, Nahid, Asif, and Mahfuj Alam were appointed as advisers to the interim government. Hasnat Abdullah now serves as the convenor of the ADSM.

Sarjis previously served as the general secretary of the July Memorial Foundation and is now the chief organiser of the National Citizens’ Committee. Earlier this month, Hasnat made headlines after marrying a fellow DU student on October 11.

A native of Panchagarh, Sarjis enrolled in DU’s zoology department in the 2016-17 academic session and completed his undergraduate degree. In 2019, he was elected to the Chhatra League panel from Amar Ekushey Hall in the DU Central Students Union (DUCSU) elections.

Details about the location of the wedding or the identity of Sarjis’s spouse remain undisclosed.
