Sarjis welcomes Tarique's return with call for unity

NCP leader Sarjis Alam has welcomed Tarique's return to Bangladesh, saying he hopes political forces will work “together” to rebuild the country.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Sarjis said Tarique was returning at a critical juncture for Bangladesh's political landscape as the country gears up for a national election in February, reports bdnews24.com.

“BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is returning to Bangladesh after nearly a decade and a half. At a critical moment in the country’s political trajectory, marked by the fall of authoritarian rule, changing circumstances, and multiple political shifts, he is coming back today in an important role.”

“We welcome him to post-uprising Bangladesh.”
