The Saudi Hajj Security Forces have arrested three Bangladeshi nationals on charges of attempting to enter Makkah “without a permit” in breach of regulations set by the Hajj authorities, local media report.
One of the accused reportedly posted a video clip of their attempt online, according to the Saudi Gazette.
All three were handed over to the authorities calling for legal steps, it added.
The Saudi Public Security Division urged all citizens and residents to comply with Hajj rules and regulations and to report any violations by contacting the number 911 in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, or the number 999 in the rest of the Kingdom, the report said.
Saudi Arabia has introduced fresh rules to strengthen security and crowd control, alongside the pilgrims’ entry to Makkah. They are now required to carry permission from authorities to enter Makkah, proof of residence in Makkah, and a Hajj permit.
If any outsiders extend their stay in Makkah beyond the mentioned period or attempt to perform Hajj without authorisation, they would be thrown out and banned from the country for a decade, the Saudi government said.
This provision will be in effect from Zilqad 1, or Apr 29, to 14 Zilhaj, or Jun 10. During this period, no one will be able to enter or stay in Makkah or the surrounding areas without permission. The Saudi government has said that there will be maximum surveillance on those entering Saudi Arabia with a visitor’s visa.
