The body of a schoolboy with injuries to his head has been recovered from an open field in Natore’s Boraigram village.

The body was recovered around 9:15pm on Thursday near an under-construction spice mill adjacent to the Bonpara Patwary Filling Station, said OC Golam Sarwar of Boraigram Police Station, reorts UNB.

The schoolboy, 9-year-old Abir Hossain, was the only son of Milon Hossain from Mahishbhanga area in Bonpara Municipality. He was a second grader at the Bonpara International School.

Citing Abir’s family, OC Sarwar said that Abir left home with his bicycle after having lunch around 3pm. When he did not return home in the evening, the family started looking for him nearby, but could not find him.

Later, around 8pm, Abir’s bicycle and pair of sandals were found dumped in an open field at the under-construction Bonolota Spice Mill. Blood stains were seen on the grass next to his belongings.

“Then the search began, and around 9:15pm, the bloodied body was found covered with dried corn plants beside the spice mill.”

The police officer also said, “We initially believe that the boy was killed by bashing his head with a brick or another heavy object. The child’s body has been sent to the Natore Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.”

Abir’s father Milon filed a case with the Boraigram Police Station over the incident, the OC said, adding police were continuing their efforts to catch those involved in the killing.
