The Ministry of Education is considering introducing a hybrid system of online and offline classes for schools in all metropolitan areas due to the ongoing global energy crisis and a rise in measles infections. However, the final decision will be taken by the cabinet.

Education Minister Ehsanul Haque Milon disclosed the development to journalists on Tuesday (March 31) following a meeting at the Secretariat with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, according to local media reports.

He said that most parents are in favour of online classes, while the government prefers a combination of both online and in-person teaching.

“As such, a proposal will be prepared specifying how many days a week classes will be conducted online and how many days offline,” the minister said, adding that the cabinet will make the final decision.

Cabinet meetings are usually held on Thursdays. Accordingly, the next meeting is scheduled to take place at the Secretariat on April 2, with the Prime Minister in the chair.
