Md Golam Rabbani, a former registrar general of the Supreme Court who was moved to Chattogram barely two months ago as district and sessions judge, is being brought back to Dhaka to take charge at the law ministry.
The law ministry made the announcement on Tuesday, reports UNB.
Rabbani will initially join on deputation as joint secretary for procedural reasons but is tipped to become top civil servant in no time.
The registrar general of the Supreme Court, a position created in 2015, holds the rank of senior secretary, according to the Warrant of Precedence but Rabbani will have to climb through the ladder once again.
He had earlier served as registrar of the High Court, a position equivalent to a secretary to the government.
