A 55-year-old security guard has been killed in a road accident in the capital’s Motijheel area.
The incident occurred around 1pm on Tuesday in front of the Kamalapur BRTC counter when a bus on Route No. 6 hit him when he was crossing the road, police said.
The deceased, identified as Ruhul Amin Sheikh, was a security guard at Sabujbagh Kadamtala Purbo Bashabo School and College, they said quoting victim’s son Shakil.
He was the son of the late Moher Ali Sheikh and hailed from Nandasagar village in Sreepur, Gazipur district. He had been residing in the Purba Basabo area of Sabujbagh.
Upon being informed, a team from Motijheel Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector Abu Sale Shahin, rushed to the scene and sent the body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for an autopsy at 2:40 pm.
Police said that the driver of the bus, along with the vehicle, was detained shortly after the incident.
