Separate incidents leave two dead in Gazipur, Thakurgaon

Two people including a woman were stabbed to death in two separate incidents in Gazipur and Thakurgaon district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Champa Akhter, the worker of NAZ factory in the area, also the wife of Rafiqul Islam, resident of Maona village in Sripur upazila in Gazipur and Ledu Mia, the night guard, hailing from Ghanimaheshpur village in Thakurgaon sadar upazila.

In Gazipur, Champa was killed after her husband stabbed her indiscriminately with sharp weapons at their house in a sequel to a family feud around 2 am, police said quoting locals.

Later, police arrested the husband from his house and sent the body to Shahid Tazuddin Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

In Thakurgaon, Ledu Mia, the night guard of Shapla Husking Mill in the district's sadar upazila, was stabbed by some miscreants while he was sleeping in his room at the mill in the dead of night, UNB reported.

Later at around 9 am, a worker of the mill Dipal Chandra Sen found Ledu Mia stabbed in the room and informed police, said Pradip Kumar Ray, officer-in-charge of Ruhia Police Station.

Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to the hospital's morgue, added the OC.
