Voting at Suritola Government Primary School, a polling centre in Dhaka 6 constituency,  witnessed minor disruptions due to serial mismatches in voter lists, but polling officials said the issues were resolved promptly.

Humayun Kabir, the presiding officer at Lutfur Rahman Lane centre, said some voters initially faced difficulties as their serial numbers did not match the printed lists.
“Some voters encountered problems due to serial mismatches. However, we assisted them in locating their correct serial numbers, and they were able to cast their votes without further trouble,” he said.

Despite the early hiccups, voting continued in a generally peaceful environment, officials added.

Voting presence is increasing as the day goes by, he said.

However, Sila Akter, a polling agent for the BNP, alleged that 15 to 20 voters were affected by the serial mismatch issue, claiming it caused temporary confusion among voters.

At Suritola Government Primary School centre, voter turnout appeared steady during the morning hours. Out of 2,941 votes cast by 11:00 am, 370 were female voters. The total number of registered male voters at the centre is 3,234, of whom 300 had cast their ballots by 10:00 am, according to polling officials.

Election officials expressed satisfaction with the overall pace of voting, saying the turnout was encouraging during the first few hours of polling.

Law enforcement personnel were seen stationed at the centres to maintain order, and no major untoward incidents were reported as of the filing of this report.

Polling is expected to continue throughout the day amid tight security and monitoring by election authorities.
