A group of people have used a bulldozer to demolish the residence of Awami League leader Abul Hasanat Abdullah on Kalibari Road in Barishal city.
Witnesses said around 12:15 am on Thursday, over a hundred people arrived at Serniabat Bhaban with a bulldozer from the city corporation and began the demolition, according to a bdnews24.com report.
Former MP Abdullah, who is also the president of the Awami League's Barishal district unit and a relative of Sheikh Hasina, lived in the house with his son, former Barishal city mayor Sadiq Abdullah.
Around 1:45 am, the group moved towards the residence of Amir Hossain Amu on Bogura Road with the bulldozer.
Shahidul Islam Shahed, Barishal metropolitan coordinator of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, told reporters at the scene, "The enraged public is dismantling the shelters of ‘fascist’ collaborators."
The demolition of Amu's house began around 2:00 am after the bulldozer arrived at the location.
