Seven Bangladeshi nationals, aged between 20 and 40, were detained from migrant worker dormitories in Singapore for suspected drug-related offences.
Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) conducted a series of operations at several migrant worker dormitories across the country over the past four days, authorities said on Saturday.
In a statement, the CNB said the first arrest took place on Monday at a dormitory in Jurong West, where a 25-year-old Bangladeshi man was detained on suspicion of drug consumption.
On Tuesday, two more Bangladeshis were arrested during an operation at another dormitory in the Seletar area. A small quantity of “Ice” (methamphetamine) and various drug paraphernalia were seized from one of the suspects.
On Thursday, the CNB arrested four Bangladeshi nationals at a dormitory in the Choa Chu Kang area.
Earlier, in November, eleven Bangladeshis and one Myanmar national were arrested in a coordinated anti-drug operation in a Woodlands dormitory.
