Police arrested seven members of a carjacking gang from Lalbagh, Bhatara and Paltan areas of the city on Tuesday.
The arrestees were Enamul Molla, 35, Enamul Haque alias Enam, 47, Bakul Chowdhury, 24, Sharif Ahmed alias Kalu, 40, Billal Hossain, 28, Iqbal Hossain alias Palash, 34, and Iqbal Khan, 32.
Tipped off, a team of police conducted separate drives and arrested them along with parts of different vehicles, said a press release of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), reports UNB.
During primary interrogation, they confessed that they have long been involved in stealing parts of different vehicles and selling those at motor parts shops in Baridhara, Mohakhali and Dholai Khal areas.
A First Information Report (FIR) was registered with Paltan Police.
