At least seven people, including three children, were killed and three others injured as a bus hit a CNG-run autorickshaw and an ambulance near Charia Istema Maidan in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Biplab Das, 27, Chinubala Das, 55, Rita Rani Das, 40, Srabanti, 18, Barsha, 10, Sudipto, 03, and Diganto, 03. They all hail from Dulal Master’s Bari in Mohammadpur village, under the Chandanish upazila of the district.
Confirming this accident, Kofil Uddin, officer of the Fire Control Office, told BSS that, on information, a team from Hathazari Fire Station rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of seven passengers in the CNG autorickshaw and ambulance, who died on the spot.
“The bodies were sent to the morgue, while the injured persons are undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital”, he added.
Police seized the vehicles involved in the accident.
A case was filed with Hathazari Police Station in this connection.
